A battle ensues in the chamber we entered previously. Spiders fall from the ceiling and flames roar across the room as we successfully eliminate the Black Spider, bugbears, and large spiders in the room. The fight ends and Ari walks over to the Black Spider, who is unconscious on the floor, and she takes his Spider Staff. He cries out, “it was supposed to be mine. It was supposed to be all mine.” Pearl ties his hands behind his back.

• Ari and Pearl search his body and they find a potion of healing and a large metal key with the head shaped like an anvil. They give Brylwynn the portion of healing who comes back to life who in turn heals Glittr. Glittr revives Yrdlyn and cures her of her paralysis.

• Pearl uses Identify on the new staff; The Spider Staff

  • The top of this black, adamantine staff is shaped like a spider. The staff weighs 6 pounds. You must be attuned to the staff to gain its benefits and cast its spells. The staff can be wielded as a quarterstaff. It deals

  • Id6 extra poison damage on a hit when used to make a weapon attack. The staff has 10 charges, which are used to fuel the spells within it. With the staff in hand, you can use your action to cast one of the following spells from the staff if the spell is on your class's spell list: spider climb (1 charge) or web (2 charges, spell save DC 15). No components are required.

  • The staff regains Id6 + 4 expended charges each day at dusk. If you expend the staff's last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff crumbles to dust and is destroyed.

• Ari finds several notes on a table in the room. The notes say that they suspect there is something in the nearby caveran that he has not yet been able to locate (the room the Bugbears were searching). He has not yet found The Forge of Spells yet due to dangers in the cave.

  • Another note was from Lilith telling him not to fail his tasks. That note is stamped with the following emblem.

  • There is also a sack that contains 225 gold, 15 platinum, 9 Gem stores (10 gold each), and Dwarven Ale Mug found of hammered electrum. 

• Ari speaks with the Black Spider about these notes. They use a key to unlock a nearby room and Ari and Glittr find Nundrow, Gundren’s brother. They share with Nundrow that his brother, Tharden, has died.

We return to the room with the Green Ghost, with the Black Spider in tow. After an uneventful conversation, we enter combat with the creature. It turns out that Mike Wazowski and the Black Spider had been communicating telepathically. Brylwynn blinds the creature and it disappears and says, “it seems I have been relieved of my duties.”

• Glittr inspects the room and he discovers a mace and a breastplate on the other. The breastplate has a golden garden motif and the mace is made of solid brass and shaped like a sun burst. Pearl identifies the breast plate as +1 Breast Plate (14+1 AC. Created for Tarragon, a human. Advantage against saving throws for dragon-type creatures.)

We investigate the flame in the middle of the room. After a long struggle with the flame, Ari realizes that the flame is the Forge of Spells. Yrdlyn sticks her Scimitar into the fire. We stick several other items into the fire, which all become magical. 

• “An octopus and a crocodile enter a murky pool of water…”

• Yrdlyn finds a wand appearing object in a pool. Yrdlyn discovered gauntlets in a pool. We explore the other side of the cave and the water. Thava flies over the water to scope out the area, but is speared by an unseen force.
