They’re Stuck in Traffique.
S03E07
The battle rages on and we manage to get a few shots on her. “If you can survive this, find me.” She says as she pulls out a longsword and disappears into a different plane as winged creatures fly out. The battle rages on a
Buildings are 20’ off the ground. The winged woman flew to the northeast, but we didn’t see her disappear into the far, far distance.
Glittr helps RC off the top of the building. They share a moment and embrace. Pearl uses Spide Climb and rejoins the group. We see a large dark linear portal on the center of the cloud bridge in the center of the city. Glittr is able to use dispel magic successfully and close this portal.
Brylwynn examines the creatures that we just beat. RC examines the ones that look more wolf-like. She is able to determine they are spiny creatures, but that’s it. He determines they are Quaggoths, creatures of the underdark. They are more humanoid and bestial than demonic and otherworldly.
We decided to cross the bridge. As we do, we take 2 points of necrotic damage per 6 seconds, except RC who doesn’t feel anything or take damage. Caulkin also takes no damage.
We hypothesize this may be due to their connections with Hephaestus.
On the other side of the bridge, we see more of the city. To the right about 600 away, there is one building still standing. Everything else has been leveled. Brylwynn looks out and sees the same damage to the city and everything else appears black and white. She knows that the city is also very religious with a lot of churches and temples. As she looks around, she sees one stained glass window on a cathedral. The stars glint blue for a moment and when she does a double take, they appear black and white, but she is sure she was a glimpse of color. Glittr and Brylwynn take a look at the symbol, trying to recognize it. They recognize it as the symbol for the dietary Mystra, the goddess of magic. Glittr, Pearl, and RC recall that Mystra is very popular in Silverymoon. Larael and her sister are rumored to be daughters of Mystra, something we had heard before.
We decide to check out the cathedral but see nothing else or of note. Even up close, the stained glass appears to be a normal window.
It is about 3:00 pm.
We take a short rest and head towards the building. We don’t see anything obvious as we approach. We see the icon of Mielikki, the goddess of forests, on the side of the building. Caulkin sees a rune carved into the door. He sees a magical energy on the door and we decide not to touch it. We take a lap around but building but see no other entrances. Caulkin decides that he is OK to try and open the door. As he gets 5 feet away the rune above the door explodes. He takes acid damage but is OK. We enter the building and see a halfway that goes to the left. In the hallway another rune is triggered which hits us with noxious gas. We decide to run backwards a few feet and then the gas dissipates.
Brylwynn then peaks around the corner again and sees a beautiful temple in service to Mielikki. We see the flying woman in the center of the room, chanting. We hear the chanting stop. Then we hear a ripping sound which we imagine might be the ripping open of another portal being. We feel heat blowing in from the courtyard. We see a horrible flaming citadel covered in flames. We see piles of corpses everywhere and flames everywhere. The corpses appear to have melded into the walls of the castle, with them being in various states of delay. She finishes her chant and looks at us.
“Welcome” she says, as the scene shifts. We see a person sitting upon a throne.
Glittr feels the biggest source of agony, deep in his core. The creature’s eyes lock in with him. “At last. I gaze upon Lliira’s champion. This is the best my darling Lovitar’s sister can send me? A single paladin. I cherish the thought. Paladins have been thrown against me before.”
Attached to the flaming throne, we see the figure of Krislynn screaming and howling in pain. She, however, is not begging for mercy.
The creature grabs her arms and looks at Glittr, then looks back at Krislynn. She then says, “Yes, yes darling. You were wrong. Just as I said you would be. Your son would come and my minions will skin him alive.” She sticks her tongue out and licks the blood off of her arm.
The portal begins to close as a red, hot chain shoots directly out of it. The winged woman, “You heard the queen of mortice herself. It’s time to skin you alive.”
