Kraken-ing the Code of the Storm King
S02E66
We regroup after the battle and talk briefly. We question what the flying woman said before she attacked us, mentioning the Bahamut was part of Hephaestus’ line. We revisit old information on Beshaba:
“Caulkin reveals that his mother was a priestess of the template of Beshaba. Beshaba is the goddess of misfortune. Glittr recognizes the symbols of Beshaba from Hyuth’s house. He finds it interesting that his mother, Krislynn, is working on behalf of Beshaba (chaos and trickery), a paladin of Lovitar (pain), both of which are evil-aligned deities.”
On day 8 while resting, RC goes to sleep. While he is resting he is met with the same colorful vision he has seen before. It is almost like he is in a room with a long table. At the end of the table he sees a woman who is presiding over everything. She says, “you again! I forget how time changes from my home to your plane. And yet, you keep being drawn to me. Well, do sit down, won’t you?” He sits at the opposite end of the table from her. She says, “Interesting. I assume my enthusiasm could be seen as rage, but us Feyfolk tell time differently. My connection to you started because you have something that belongs to me.”
She tells RC that he is on the material plane, but he has her bow and it is tethering RC and his consciousness to her, and she wants it back. He tells her the bow was found in Dreadstone Cleft and he was led to it by Bahamut. In the blink of a second she teleports right up in front of his face. “You dabble in things that you are so unaware of. Are all Kobold’s as rude as you?” She says, “I’m not in your dream. You are tethered to me and my realm by owning my bow. I think its cute you think the platinum dragon gifted the bow to you when he gifted it to me centuries ago.” He asks if she is a follower of the platinum dragon. She explains that she and the platinum dragon have similar interests. RC asks how does she plan on getting the bow when she isn’t on the material plane. “It’s so strange. The boundaries between the material plane are weakening… you are going to bring the bow to me because I cannot go into the material plane to get it.”
RC drinks some tea and hypothesizes what would happen if he were to bring the bow back to her. “You would have my favor. Do you know where you are seated right now?” She flickers her hand and the illusion dissipates and sits all around him, he sees nature-esque creatures. There are Eladrin elves, satyrs, other small 5” creatures with wings, and more. “If you bring my bow back to me, you would have a favor by none other than Queen Eladrin of the Feywild.” She goes on to speak about the tether between the two of them. “There is a way deep within the
There are shards that allow transportation between the Fey Realm and your plane. It appears that there is Fey magic amongst your group. In the Kryptgarden Forest, there is a shard that will get you to me.” She flicks her hand again and on one of the teacups she sees an image of Fey/Pearl sleeping in the woods amongst trees. “If you seek her out, she will aid you.” She mentions that the girl must have had help to find this shard, because only people in the Feywild know of their existence, so others must be trying to get into the Feywild as well.
RC asks about the Prince of Frost because he noticed the bow and asked about it. “I did not know that's what he was styling himself as these days. The poor boy made him some choices that cost him dearly and not even I could save him.” “He recognized that bow because he saw me use it all throughout his childhood… well once upon a time he was my son, but dark forces once assaulted the Feywild and he made mistakes that are not easily undone. So if he saw that bow on you, he knew his mother’s bow had fallen into the Material Plane.”
We also recall that Hingir told us Fey was going to the Kryptgarden Forest as well.
On Day 11 Bahamut tells us he can feel that whatever Beshaba wants is getting closer. It isn’t hurting him, but he feels her getting more powerful, but at the same time she is guiding us.
On the same day, Glittr notices that the Trident of Fish Command is not effective and no fish. This isn’t good!! We see nothing from the crow’s nest on the horizon. RC senses elementals, but nothing else with his. We ask the captain if he has something that allows them to go underwatch, and they do have a Cloak of the Manta Ray we can borrow to breathe underwater.
We see a boat off in the distance. We sail closer and get about 500’ away and can tell that the ship is in the shape of a Kraken. As we float closer we hear a voice say, “I don’t know what you came looking for but you’re going to die looking for it” as an arrow hits the mast of the ship.
On days 10-15, RC casts Legend Lore on Hephaestus and another charge on Slarkrethel. Nothing comes back for Hephaestus. For Slarkrethel, RC gets visions of silvery text on scrolls in midair. It tells him of a story that Slarkrethel is ancient beyond reckoning, older almost since the founding of Torrle. He is a Kraken. He has long been in search of the divinite. He has been in the trackless sea through many empires. It is unknown how much harm he has caused overtime.
As the day carries on we see a ship off in the distance. We approach it as a battle begins with several henchmen on the deck. There is a wizard on the deck who deals a great deal of damage to us. Captain Thunderhale joins in on the battle and we are successful. Chained to the bottom of the ship, we see the Storm King.
