Scuffle on The Great Dame

S02E33

We purchase sickening looks and drop off our weapons, armor, and magic items prior to boarding The Grand Dame. We walk up the gangplank and talk to Lord Drylund.

Matbann overhears and elven man talking about losing a lot of money the last time he was on the Grand Dame. He hears another dwarven woman talking about how Lord Drylund was pushy last time, trying to wheedle with others and rub shoulders with the guests. He (Drylund) is trying to raise in the ranks himself; he is annoying. Some halfling women are talking about someone was caught cheating last time and was thrown off the boat.

As we board the ship we see rowers on the bottom deck. The middle deck is where the fine dining rooms are and the open air casino. The upper deck has porthole windows but we cannot see anything suspicious in them for now. There are staircases going up and down on the aft and stern of the ship.

Brylynn and Caulkin fake spilling champagne on Caulkin’s outfit in an attempt to get upstairs, but the attempt fails and they attract Drylund’s attention.

Ari and Pearl act as ladies of the night. They find someone who seems to have a winning streak and approach her. She flirts with a rich woman named Riah.

Matbann and Glittr sit at the craps table. The man at the table turns in gold and is given a token with the same symbol of the Duck Token. Each token is worth 20 gold each. There are other token as well worth 1, 5, and 10 gold each.

On the ship, Glittr, Matbann, Ari, and Caulkin notice that Pow, the guard, never leaves the gambling area. Lord Drylund is going up the stairs throughout the night but he doesn’t talk to any of the waitstaff or other staff.

Around 6 hours later, the ship eventually docks and everyone begins to leave the ship. Krislynn comes down the stairs and says “well well well, who do we have here?”

Krislynn calls Caulkin “one of Beshaba’s little cursed puppets.” She states that she will let us live because Beshaba is not done with us yet.

She says that he was trying to see if Lord Drylund had any use for her. She reveals that she was trying to evoke the Hand of Yartar. She stirred up the name of the HoY to try and stir up drama and they are not active. She mutters something in a language we do not recognize and we hear a strange sound, almost as if you are getting out of the water.

A battle ensues between Krislynn and the beasts that she conjures up. She disappears in the middle of the battle and we manage to defeat the beasts. At the end of the battle, Glittr pins Lord Drylund against a wall and questions what he knows about Krislynn. She had been on the ship for weeks trying to get information from Drylund and she was looking for something that would make Lovitar more powerful. She has been sending out assassins to nearby towns.

Ari investigates the monster that Krislynn conjured. It appears to be a humanoid creature with sea-like features.

A half-elven person begins walking up the gangplank. They nod at Pearl, take a look at the group, and say to Ari, “I should have known this disturbance would be due to all of you.” They introduce themselves as Rave [they/them] and they have a flying snake on their shoulder.
