It Was the Fungus All Along
S02E53
As the battle in the library roars on, a new character joins the fight. Running in from the south. They use their glaive and deliver the final blow to the monster. As that happens, the torch's color returns to normal and the purple and pink color dissipates. Bahamut’s eyes return to their green state instead of their purple. He says “that didn’t feel good, but I don’t have any memory of what just occurred.” In her head, Ari hears “The boundaries are breaking. Free me of your own volition or suffer my unseething wrath.”
Caulkin readies an arrow and Sypha holds an Eldritch blast towards the new person. He’s a tall character with dark hair, held in a bun, wearing plate armor covered in worn leather. His breastplate has the etching of a gauntlet on it and he holds a glaive. The gauntlet is Torm’s symbol. Sypha and Hiro (sp?) make small talk as the two seem to know each other.
Hiro reveals that he is upset because Sypha “fuck his sister.” The tension between the two of them is thick and intense. We went to the Flower Bed Inn, which is more of the upscale bar in town.
TLDR: someone died and our contact failed to resurrect them back, and in doing so, sucked the life out of the town.
Hiro is from Cormyr and they are here looking for something that was lost in their town. Sypha disappeared the same day that the object disappeared from Hiro’s town. Sypha denies knowing its location or whereabouts. The item missing is a book that contains spells and ancient histories. Hiro was tasked to come to Silverymoon by Krowen in Everlund.
As we make awkward small talk Sypha reveals that Hiro is not human and is in fact an Aasimar. It is almost midnight as we continue to talk at the tavern.
Ari sneaks out and speaks with the bartender. They reveal that things changed about 3 weeks ago. They don’t feel any different, but all of the elves have left town.
Sypha and Hiro talk. Hiro accuses Sypha of knowing where the lost book is. In his room, Hiro sends a message to his sister, letting her know that he located Sypha. He receives a message back that his sister is pleased with the news.
We head to Everlund to meet with Krowen.
On the way Sypha reveals she is a Tiefling. The bickering amongst the group continues. We learn that Sypha really does not know the location of the missing book.
We arrived in Everlund. We arrived at the Moongleam tower. A tall woman is exiting the building, looking quite regal. She has a beautiful ruby pendant and ornate staff. She looks at the 8 of us and comments on the strength of the group. She reveals herself to be Larael Silverhand, the Lord of Waterdeep. We make small talk with her. As she leaves, she makes a comment that one of us took down the evil Wizard Elador.
Brylwynn recounts the story that she killed the evil wizard. Her ex-fiancee was the Lord of Daggerford and he is still alive. When he was dying, Elador mentioned that Brylwynn was supposed to be a gift for Larael.
We make our way inside and meet with Krowen. Caulkin fills Krowen in with the information about Harshnag’s death.
Hiro speaks with Krowen and provides information. He indirectly calls The Droop Troop roaches. Krowen agrees to promote Caulkin in the Harper ranking to a Harp Shadow.
Krowen says “would you like to do the honors Sypha or would you like me?”
Sypha states that the leader of the Harpers knocked all of the joy out of Silverymoon. Sypha accuses the Harpes of being blind to the world. As she pauses to think, Krowen calls Sypha The Cultess. We felt the same wave of cold overcome us that we did in the library coming from Sypha, but we all shook it off. Sypha tries to strike us again and she hits Ari.
Krowen states that Sypha is now a Harper prisoner. Sypha states that the balloon ride she provided us was on behalf of the dragon of the north, Klauth. If at the end of the story, we visit Klauth for eradicating the giant threat for an award.
Sypha tries to run from the room, but we stop her with magic. Krowen states that The Harpers always know what's going on on the Sword Coast. At that moment, Delvin walks up the stairs of the tower. He strips Sypha of all of her magical items and spellcasting items.
Krowen admits that Hiro is the only person who was tricked in all of this. He walks over to a bookshelf and pulls out the book that Hiro has been looking for.
Sypha hears a chuckle and an image of pink, winged eyeliner in her mind.
Krowen looks at the rest of our group. He states that the top floor of this tower has a special gift for Harpers that we may use. We need Caulkin or RC in our presence to use it as they are Harpers. We head to the top floor and on the floor we see a series of runes and inscriptions. This will provide faster access to the SwordCoast. It is a teleportation circle that will help us navigate around the SwordCoast.
There are 6 circles we can use as long as we remain in the Harper's good graces.
Brylwynn knows we need to go to the Southeast, so we choose to get teleported to Loudwater.
