I'm Just Surprised Caulkin Is Important
S02E63
We regroup in the morning over breakfast with Hingir at the inn in Yartar. Fey is close by, about a 6 days’ trip in Westbridge. Glittr asks Hingir about Lovitar and Beshaba working together.
Two evil dieties are usually willing to work together, whereas good aligned ones and more likely to work on their own.
Glittr asks about the Feeblemind spell and how to cure it, which can be done with Wish or Greater Restoration.
We go back to Serissa who states that se cannot teleport us onto the ship in the Trackless Sea. Instead, we use our Teleportation Circle from The Harpers to teleport into Waterdeep.
RC mentioned that Mirran has put herself under house arrest and Mirran has feld as they both hired the Kraken Society. Serissa suspects they were jealous that their father put her in charge.
Iymrith the dragon has been spotted in a desert, but she will give us more information on this later through Message.
Her uncle lends us his Trident of Fish Command which he hands to Glittr. They also offer “Stone shape” and “Legend Lore” as spells to inscribe into a spellbook, but no one is able to take them.
We are teleported to Waterdeep. We end up on the sigil of Waterdeep as expected as the teleportation spell ends. Pearl opens the door and she sees sarcophagi. As we leave the room, it appears we are in the Cemetary Ward of Waterdeep.
We head to the post office to open our P.O. Box. There are 6 letters in the P.O. Box. Three of them are hand written and are written sloppily from Droop. One letter is for “Ari and Companions” one is in dwarven and addressed “From Gundren” and one if to “Brylwynn and Companions.”
Brylwynn opens the letter addressed to her and its beautiful, ornate stationary. Its message states that we are coordially invited to have a meeting with the Open Lord of Waterdeep and it is signed by Laurel Silverhand with an official seal.
Next, we open the letter from Gundren. He lets us know the mine is up and running, but there is no money in it.
Lastly, we open the letter addressed to Ari. As it opens a glyph breaks and a small puff of green smoke appears as a skeleton is present. Glittr opened the letter and as this happens, he breathes it is. His eyes roll in the back of his head as he stops breathing and dies.
Pearl whips our The Revifivy Spell Scroll and attempts to cast it. As her claws shake, he successfully casts Revivify and resurrects Glittr. As RC, Brylwynn, and Caulkin watch on, the room grows dark as shadows appear. Pearl’s cloak in homage to the Raven Queen appears to float over Pearl and Glittr. It sinks to the ground and encompasses the two of them. As the cloak disappears, Glittr regains consciousness.
When he was dead, Glitt had a vision again. He was at the platform he once visited previously. He is filled with dread knowing he is back here, as Lliira said she wouldn’t bring him back here. The three torches are growing, but the life and light within them is gone. There is a creature that one he once saw in the Storm Giant den, as its head is cocked to the side. He speaks to the creature who states that he is in need of a mortal’s aid.
The riff between the mortal plane and its mirror weakens, as Lliira’s power is weakening. “If you aid me, I have something that may assist you.” It helped Cadderly years ago.
Cadderly was one of Lliira’s most famous pinnacle of Lliira paladins in the past. Many people try to aspire to be him. He was alive centuries ago. “In fact, Cadderly was the last mortal who had the ability to see me.” If you aid me, I have something that can aid you.”
“You are strong. It has been many many centuries since one of Llirra’s mortals has seen me. Seek me out at the tallest peeks deep within the High Forest. This is no coincidence, for I am in need of a mortals aid… The rift between the material plane and its mirrors weakens. Have you not already sensed Lliira’s dwindling might? Something is happening to or using. her, and I know not what. But if you aid me, i have something that may help you as it did Cadderly many many centuries ago…”
We know that Loudwater is on the border of the High Forest.
In the Ari addressed to Ari it reads,
“I hope whoever opens this, whether it is Ari or one of her companions, I hope you enjoyed my gift. If you ever come back to Luskan, I’ll gut you like a fish. Captain Kirth.”
In thinking about Cadderly more, Glittr knows that a TBD Legendary Maul he was known for using. He was known to use this maul to smite the evil at thie time.
We do some shopping and load up on potions and sell old gear. [around 3-4:00 pm]
We make our way down to the Dock Ward. We check out the ships and try to figure out a reasonable way to get out to the Trackless Sea. The standard merchant ships aren’t made to venture that far off the coast. We do see one ship at the far end of the dock which appears to be more people-esque.
Pearl learns from a dockhand that Captain Thunderhale likes to catch a drink at the Yawning Portal bar and he is willing to hear us out.
We get 2 rooms for the night at an Inn near the Yawning Portal.
