The Lucky Fish Fiasco
S02E54
We awaken in a cellar-like location as we look around [Time of day: around 5 pm]. We carefully look around the room as we gingerly walk around. We walk into the hallway and hear voices and footsteps from above. We make our way forward and head out through the back of the bar where the bartender rolls his eyes upon seeing up.
The bartender shares that Revil is in charge of the basement. Loudwater has a great rye that we all try. The town has a local fest hall, some sightseeing locations, and such.
The bartender shares that the giants have destroyed several towns out East. The bar does seem to be busier than other bars we’ve been to in towns of the same size. This is the lower east portion of the SwordCoast before reaching no-man’s land. Orlbar, Llorkh, and Parnast are three fall cities in the valley that have fallen to giant attacks.
Loudwater is between the High Forest and the High Moor. Zelbross and Secomber are further west of where we are now. Secomber has been sending troops to Loudwater to help defend the city.
Telbor is more than happy to take volunteers to help defend the city and send out on scavenging missions. Because of the dire circumstances, even Harpers and Zhentarim agents are working together.
Brylwynn and Caulkin go outside to take a look around. As they look, they see that it is a rather impressive city, like Everlund or Yartar. We get directions to the north side of town to find Telbor. As we maneuver through the city, Brylwynn begins to feel a strong pull on herself. She previously felt a southeast pull, but now she feels a northeast pull to Deadstone Cleft.
She is under a weakened the Find the Path spell
As we walk towards the north side of town, Brylwynn recognizes exquisite stonework. It is dwarven in nature. Walking across the bridge, Glittr gets hit by a fish. As that happens several people around us cheer and chant for him to throw it back into the water. He does so and then asks a nearby woman what happened and she states that when someone is hit by a fish, it is considered good luck in this town.
We get to the barracks without an issue and head inside. We ask to speak with Telbor but are told we need to speak with his right hand man, Umbryl. As we head inside, there is a large throng of people in deep conversation with two giants. In the large room we encounter a pair of guards who do not let us get closer to the group talking to the giants in the large room. They share that Umbryl is one of few people talking to the two giants. They give us a hard time about going to speak with Umbryl. Pearl flashes them the frost giant rune we got in the Temple of the All-Father.
We moved into the room on the second floor of the large room where we saw the group of 5 men enter earlier. We see a young man in decent armor, who looks younger than we would have expected. We are met with resistance as he is difficult to get information out of.
The pair of giants were looking for some cloud giant relics in the High Moor. We head back to the bar and are directed to a human male with fiery red hair. We are told he is Revil. He clarifies that his job is to cast the spell for the teleportation circle.
At the bar Brylwynn speaks to Caulkin about Larael. She attempts to get him to see that his grandmother may have lied about Larael in the past, but he refuses to see it.
Then we have a deep conversation about trusting each other. With that, we recount our latest experience with Sypha and the chaos brought down upon the group.
Our long rest goes over without a hitch. Days 1 and 2 go without issue. On day 3, we come across the smoking ruins of a city. As we trek along, we come across winged creatures and a fight ensues. After a horribly close battle, we manage to kill all 3 of them.
