I’m Only Four Fails Away From Death
S02E44
We resume combat with a herb of snow monsters. From the south, we get attacked by a larger snow beast. It takes out many members of the party as we struggle in combat to take it down.
After the battle Brylwynn identifies the beast as a Yeti. She has heard stories of them from Bryn Shander.
We continue onwards in the valley as we head northwest. As we do, the wind becomes slightly stronger. As we move, we see more humanoid-like creatures along the path. RC suspects they are The Uthgardt Barbarians, a name we have heard on and off again.
We continue north, nine days in total. Four days after the battle, as we move north into the southern portions of the Spine of World, RC sees that the valley is finally breaking. On the North (west) side of the valley, we see sheer, untamed rock cliffs. As we venture forward, RC uses his primal awareness that he has used many times before. He gets the sense that something is within 1 mile of us, but he is unsure of what.
Pearl uses Thava to fly ahead and investigate. We see a statue with a bowl at its feet ahead of us. It has language written in giant on the statue. We see a rune on the statue. We recognize the rune as being similar to the one we saw in Zephyros’ Castle on the Orb of Navigation. The rune is carved in stone in the rock wall of the valley.
Pearl reads the notes on the bowl: “To the Almighty Skoraeus Stonebones, Master of Stone Giants, Right Hand of Annam the All Father, we offer you a portion of our lifely essense here on this plane to honor you & the ways of old to guide us through our Olach Morrah”
Harshnah reveals that Skoraeus Stonebones is the stone giant deity.
We all use daggers to cut our hands, making a blood offering into the bowl. At first, nothing happens so Pearl reads the sentence aloud again. The blood seeps into the bowl, and the eyes of the statue glow as does the rune. From out of the ground, a spike appears. We cut ourselves again and drip it onto the spike but again nothing happens. Pearl remembers that Olach Morrah is in a meditative state that we have seen another giant in.
Not knowing what to do, we carry onward for another two days. After a couple of days, we come to the end of the valley we are in, and we come across a large crevasse in the earth. From this fork, we can either carry on north or south.
Brylywnn polymorphs Harshnag into a griffin who then flies us over the crevasse with ease. We continue our adventure north and move further and further into the blizzard. Several members of the party face exhaustion as we head deep and deeper into the valley.
