The Missing Magical Trident

S02E13

After the intense battle, Caulkin spots eight more frost giants retreating westward from the village. Examining the fallen giant's body, we find a massive iron horn (100 lbs) to summon giants and gemstones adorning her helmet (nine gems, each worth 100 gold). The meeting with Duvessa is postponed until the next morning.

A conversation with Augrek, the redheaded dwarven girl near the battlegrounds, reveals potential reinforcements in IronMaster, where her uncle commands the garrison. Augrek suggests seeking aid from her family. Outside the inn, we encounter Baric, a member of the Order of the Gauntlet from Neverwinter. Baric shares his mission to apprehend a dwarven troublemaker named Worvil, known as "The Weevil," in the vicinity of Luskan and Mirabar. His pursuit of justice aligns with the organization's ethos, and he credits us for our defense against the frost giant attack.

The following morning, we sell the gems for 165 gold each and visit the Council Hall to meet with Duvessa and Markham. We discuss the Red Barbarians, inhabitants of Icewind Dale near a red glacier. One of the tribes stole a magical trident from Bryn Shander, heading northeast into a cavern. The reward for its retrieval is a choice of a magic item. Duvessa provides a letter for her aunt, Captain Inirva Coldwater, offering rides on the merchant ship "Dancing Wave" from coastal cities.

We learn of Harshnag, a frost giant who visited two years ago after a dragon fled from Waterdeep. We consider seeking his insights into the recent giant attacks. At the town's temple with Sirac, we find connections to Artus Cimber, his estranged son. Artus, rumored to be immortal due to a magic ring, has ties to the Roaringhorn Family in Waterdeep. The visit concludes with the theft of two holy waters.

Encountering Beldora in the street, we learn of her Harper affiliation and her supervisor in Hundelstone, Thwip Ironbottom. With our dog sled in tow, we head north toward the Red Glacier, ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
