A Bedridden Daddy

Brylwynn recognizes the beasts we fought off at Wyverns. We see a group of people approach us heading away from the town we are heading towards. They come at us with weapons drawn. They are posted at Orlbar and inquire to see if we are the reinforcements sent to help them. [around 12:00 pm noon]. The main dwarf who is speaking to us is named Marcus.  We follow them to the ruins of a town similar in size to Phandalin. We meet the commander who 5 of us recognize as Lyle, Ari’s bisexual brother.

• Lyle shares that their father is more ill by the day. His illness makes them weak and he is currently bedridden. Lyle says he thought the family thought Ari would find a way to “get rid of” her magic and scales while she was adventuring. 

• He asks, “have you ever heard of The Harpers, Ari?” Lyle then admits that he is a part of The Harpers now, serving the Sword Coast. The Harpers have led the charge down here, keeping everyone safe. He shares that there is a giant stronghold to the northeast, and Ari confirms this is where we were heading.

Lyle then shares he has been interrogating a child they captured. He introduces us to Colvar, a child from the Blue Bear Tribe, who left the Deadstone Cleft. Caulkin offers him jerky in exchange for information. 

• He shares that he lives with the Stone Giants. His entire family lives with them and they have always been there. He is willing to go back to the town with us, but we are weary because we don’t know how the barbarians there will react to us attacking the giants as they live together. His mom’s name is Hydia and she is often speaking to one of The Stone Giants. Colvar does reveal that he has some knowledge of alternative entrances to the town. 

We travel for about an hour or two next to a river. We are in a hilly area and it appears to be a large valley. The area is beautiful despite the coming dangers. One day 2, we notice that there are mountains on all sides of us. One of the days, we do see a pair of giants leaving the valley. At noon on that day, we see a large formation in the rock valley ahead.

• We head into the cleft with large cliftsides above up on the left and right. RC notices a large nest-like structure to the upper left. Brylwynn feels that she is no longer under the direction/tugging spell because we have arrived at our destination.”
