Very Passion of the Christy
S03E26
The game resumes with the party still split into two groups. Caulkin, Pearl, RC, and Bahamut find themselves in the right chamber, battling 6 different orbs. Baptiste, Brylwynn, and Glittr are surrounded by undead skeletons in the chamber to the left, as they regenerate round after round.
The three on top smite down the rounds and rounds of undead creatures, while the group on the bottom take a few rounds to get a hang of how to take down the colored orbs. Caulkin and Bahamut work out an effective plan of rotating sneak attacks to take down the orbs quickly.
After the battle, we see a gold script appearing on the door. It reads:
“Let those with bravery and goodness in their hearts persevere.”
As the door falls, we see a black, whispy smoke ahead of it. It’s almost as it is beckoning us forward. We hear whispers in our head as faint, static, holographic-like images appear around us. The male form is wearing a crown identical to the one on Brylwynn’s head. If hers is bad, his crown appears much worse. The crown attached to his skull appears to be very gruesome and painful. It cannot be stressed enough how gruesome and painful the scene is.
The woman cries out to the name named, Jyaernos, who is the Prince of Frost. The woman, the Raven Queen, when she was still a mortal.
It’s almost as if the holograms were a superseded memory in the room.
She is screaming and calling out to him as she lies dying in her arms.
We pick a marching order and step into the black smoke ahead. As we do, the smoke doesn’t dissipate. As we do, it feels like we are now alone, floating in the black smoke on our own.
Baptiste, the first in line, becomes a spectator of another memory. He sees himself and his creator in the eyesight of the mountain. His master gives him a job well done. He is given positive feedback for a job well done and offered a vacation. This is the type of feedback that Baptiste loves to receive. This is a happy memory for him. [Failed]
Next in line is Brylwyn. She is sitting around a campfire with her family as they swap stories. She wonders if the traveling minstrel life is for her. As her brother breaks out into song, she watches her brother play. She is planning on heading to Daggerford in the coming week, saving her voice for the Lord. [Saved]
Glittr sees himself as a child back in Baldur’s Gate. A parade outside is for Llirra’s Night, but his father took him home as he was young. His mother is out patrolling for the drunks and his father asks him for help with a sewing order and if they do a good job. [Saved]
RC sees a memory of his house in the Mere of Deadmen. Snapjaw calls out to him, excited, as he trains to work with stone and build. RC feels warm and happy amongst his community in the Mere. [Failed]
Caulkin, second the second to last in line, thinks back to a memory when he thought his mother was dead. His father is tucking him into bed, reminding Xanross that he too is a fighter like his mother. He owes that they will get their vengeance one day for his mother, and Caulkin/Xanross’ mother’s dead. (Which we now know is untrue and he is alive). [Saved]
Pearl sees a memory back at the Spine of the World and its snowy goodness. Her sister Fey exclaims that she enjoys their time together and that she can’t wait to become a cleric. Pearl is overwhelmed with these good feelings. [Saved]
For everyone who succeeded (S) their charisma checks, and they are reminded that their visions are just a memory. As that happens, they hear a voice in their heads taking them out of their memories as the illusions are dispelled.
RC and Baptiste do not hear a voice taking them out of their memories, and they remain lost in their memories.
As we come to in the room, we are met by several figures and another serpentine figure.
During the battle with the spectators, we suffer losses as Pearl takes too much loss to her strength and dies. The battle rages on and we manage to touch the two resurrection orbs, stopping the spectors and serpentine creature from regenerating.
The Raven Queen
The Prince of Frost
Jyaernos still as a mortal
Serpentine Battle
In this battle, the monsters regenerated every few rounds until the two orbs were touched by Caulkin and Glittr
Summary
Chamber Challenges and Battles:
The party, split into two groups, faces challenges in separate chambers. Caulkin, Pearl, RC, and Bahamut destroy six colored orbs in their chamber using a rotation of sneak attacks, while Baptiste, Brylwynn, and Glittr battle endlessly regenerating skeletons. Both groups overcome their challenges, revealing a doorway marked with golden script: “Let those with bravery and goodness in their hearts persevere.”
