Rakshas-ing Me Crazy

S02E38

We arrive at Callinghorn and rest for the night. We continue our way to Everlund on our way to Silverymoon. As we continue onward we feel the road become more and more claustrophobic. We find friendly caravans along the way who offer to help each other and bunk together. RC and Brylynn know that those who travel to the Evermoors are generally well-trained and prepared for it. There are several species of elves that live in the high forests; they are uninterested in outsiders invading their homes. Brylynn also knows that the High Forests contain the tree of Great Renown, or the Grandfather Tree. This is a behemoth tree that few have come to see because of the magic that infuses the area.

Days 1 and 2 are generally uneventful. During day 3 the party begins to notice a deep roaring from deep within the Evermoors. RC senses that the creature is miles away and is not a current danger of threat. On day 4 we see another set of woods approaching. Glittr and Caulkin see a peculiar object in the sky in an otherwise clear sky. On day 5, we see a Hill Giant on the trail.

We try to fight the giant but it ends up being an illusion under the Major Image spell. Glittr spots Krislynn off in the trees, swinging and kicking her legs without worry. He begins to wonder how Krislyn (oath of the watchers) is able to use this magic. Torm is a good aligned deity and Lovitar is not; this is conflicting itself. She is also wearing plate armor, which is the most movement preventive. Krislynn says that she is glad we walked to her, and she says that now we are hers, “well… Beshaba’s.”

Krislynn snaps her fingers and transforms into many different versions of the party. “It is your mother and I’s benefit that you do believe…” THe creature speaks in the same strange language we heard it speak on the boat as we fight.

The battle is difficult with only very few of our strikes dealing damage. The creature speaks in a guttural language and it flickers in a different form as it encants itself. It also says “Beshaba awaits!” Mid-combat the creature fades out of existence, almost out of time and space itself. As it disappears, we see a glimpse of a Daddy Tiger (Rakasha), which is the true form of the creature. It is some sort of interplanar fiend. Glittr begins to realize that the creature was likely impersonating Krislynn since the ship, as it spoke in the strange guttural language back then as well.

We entered Everlund. It is a walled settlement. A river cuts through it on the western side out to the eastern side. This is much more a picturesque city which appears very clean and taken care of. It seems to be a mostly human city, but is very diverse for the most part. A passerby recommends Danivarr's House to sleep and eat it. The Half-Orc Dral Thelev is there and he pours the finest ale in all the area. Directions: go to the main market, down the main road, take a left, another left, and you can’t miss it.

As we pass through the market, we see a large town with a moon on it. We figure this must be the Moon Gleam Tower. We decided to go to the Inn and rest first. We get food and drink and sit at the table. Suddenly, Brylywnn, Pearl, Caulkin, and Glittr’s minds are felt with cut-scenes, the guttural language, and screams in their minds. As they see the face of the Tiger-esque creature flash through their minds. We get no benefit from the short rest.

Rakshasa

A shape-shifting monster who can inflict the party with the inability to heal with rests.
