I Get Into My Jammies and Cry Myself to Sleep
S03E28
We find ourselves in the tomb with the thorns around the Prince of Frost’s body having dissipated. We managed to activate the Shadow Shard in the room for the forces of “good.” Beshaba’s influence seems to wane from the area with her soldier defeated at our most recent battle. RC goes over to his body and investigates it. His body was surrounded by thorns, but it was also circled by 7 yellow flowers.
RC reaches out and touches the flowers.
Before he touches them, a voice in draconic booms out, “you have discovered me at last. I sense that you are indeed kin of mine, touched by Bahamut. I am the aspect of Bahamut’s mind. I have been hiding here trapped by Beshaba’s evil voices, trying to quell the voices from the crown.”
RC speaks with the voice, asking what else he can do for it. The voice states that all dieties have artificates, which 2 of his companions, including himself (RC), possesses. It takes more than a weapon to destory an artifact of a god.
What Beshaba has fashioned here is more than what 1 god can do. Long ago, Bahamut created artifcates for humanity to dispel evil. The voice suspects what he created long ago, can be used to destory the crown, freeing the evil within.
The voice speaks on behalf ote ruling voices of Shanar. Receiving the scepter will allow us to destory the crown.
The voice asks RC if he has what it takes to obtain the ceptors.
The voice says that evil temps one of us in the group. They are scattered.
Two of them are held by the forces of evil, and the third is held by a foe of dragonkin turned ally. A giant now yields one of these scepters. The other two are out of his vision, but a great evil holds one of them. It is not on this plane, beyond his grasp.
The voice is an aspect of a metallic dragon, for goodness and justice. One scepter is in the hands of a chromatic dragon.
RC replies, “may your journey be peaceful. I will ensure that this knowledge is just and it will be served.
He turns around and says, “So we’re gonna die.”
There are three sceptors. One with the red chromatic dragon that Claug instructed us to kill. One is with Ari and the cloud giants, and one is elsewhere.
7 Shadow Shards - 1 we activated, 3 we know of. 4 left to find
1 we activated, 1 under the grandfather tree
1 with Serissa, 1 with the red dragon Klauth, and 1 more we need to find
RC thinks back, and based on context clues and that he saw the other one, Zariel holds the last sceptor.
RC pulls out the Iron Flask give to him by Queen Titania and holds it towards the Prince’s body.
He finally reveals that Queen Titania asked for him to recover her son’s body from the mausoleum.
Pearl casts doubts that the flask is going to do what Queen Titania says it is going to do.
Pearl casts Identify on the Iron Flask, seeing that Queen Titania gave RC the empty, legendary flask.
We head out of the Mauseolum without issue. As we step outside, we see that the shadows have lifted. Autumn meets us outside. He states that he didn’t see Brother and Sister leave the Mauseolum.
We decide to head back to the Feycount and meet with Queen Titania. We get back to her throne room without issue. She welcomes us all back in, with her eyes focused on RC. He relays over to her that we activated the Shadow Shard and hands over the Iron Flask to her.
She asks if we know what happened to the rest of him. RC relays that he has been split, but this is all we were able to find of him. She asks how many more pieces of her son there are to find, and there is 1. His mind is with the Raven Queen, his spirit disappeared but we don’t know what this means, but we think the newly formed deity took his spirit(?) with her.
She looks at RC, telling him to hold on to the flask, stating that his work isn’t done. She says that she cannot leave the Feywild. I need you to “collect” the pieces of my son, so they can be back to me. I want all of him back. RC agrees to doing his for her, as she instructed him on how to use the Bow.
Queen Titania says that she is more than happy to help folks on the material plane, as this is somewhere she is unable to go on her own.
We recalls that she has helped humankind in the past when the need was great, so she is known to do this. We are now seeing the mutual benefit for all parties involved.
I have given you the tools to use Bahamut’s Legendary Bow. I can grant you other gifts and boons as well. I aid Bahamut on the material plane.
She asks if anyone is looking for additional power and strength and Glittr steps forward. Queen Titania stats that she seeks the continuation of the Matierla Plane, just as our group does.
After a brief conversation and discussion, she offers the strength of the Feywild to which he accepts. The room fills with a chill as the pact is created.
She says, “my gifts do not end there. I have two more gifts if you are so inclined.” Caulkin takes a step forward and opens his snatchel with a grin. She tells us that the elves of his plane are strong and offers a cloak. This cloak can make it harder for enemies to hit us. Caulkin gets a Cloak of Displacement.
She then offers us a new item. She states that she worked on the Erinyes’ heart that we handed her and she worked on it. The heart looks like it has been touched with Feywild magic and the danger once inside of it has been removed. It is a “key” or a tether to which the Erinyes originated from. This heart is the key that will get us to Avernus. It will act as the component necessary for us to cast Plane Shift. We can use this to go and get the 2 souls taken of Bahmut.
Queen Titania agrees to make us a portal to head back to the material plane after a night’s rest. We all visit that evening, reviewing our notes and coming up with a plan on what to do next. After discussing things, we decide to head north towards the Spine of the World.
RC hears in his head the voice of Larael, “I have urgent news. Head to Waterdeep as soon as possible.”
That night:
In her room, Pearl tries to use the Sending Spell to Fey. As she does, there is some pushback and she realizes the message had to transcend the plane of existence that she is on. We know that Fey is no long on the Feywild, but we don’t know where. She says, “Fey, I don’t know where are you, but they said they took you. Don’t worry we will find you. You have my word. Love you, sis.” The spell goes through OK. A few hours later she replies, “I don’t know where I am but this is a very dangerous place and I am to meet their lord father “soon.” I’m scared.” Pearl uses her last slot, “Don’t be scared sister, you’re the strongest person I know. We’re going to get you out of there.” She replies, “I hope you are alive when you come to find me. They’re here and I…” the message doesn’t finish.
Caulkin tries to prank Brylwynn that evening using his new cloak to prank her by knocking on her door. She looks through the peep hole and then deadblolts and chains up the door.
RC and Bahmut talk that night and their plan to get the missing pieces of his soul back.
Baptiste pulls out one of the trinkets that an old student gave him and reminisces. “I can’t wait to claw that staff out of her dead, lifeless demon hands.” “Oh yeah, you can PISS on her body!” replies RC. RC retracts this statement, remembering the goals of Bahamut the larger deity.
In her sleep, Brylwynn has another vision. She isn’t met with the typical casino/blackjack vision she has had before in the past. Now, her vision has a purplish tint in the corner of her vision. As she looks out before her, she sees something that doesn’t look like the material plane. She is on a high tower looking out upon minions. There are demon-looking creatures, tieflings, devils, and other creatures with horns. She turns from that scene, to see a man sitting on a huge throne. There is a serpentine creature to the hide of him acting as a right-hand man, and the two familiar figures of brother and sister speaking with him.
Next to Grazet’s thrown, there is Fey and one Shard.
They turn to her (through the eyes of Beshaba) and say, “We welcome you, our great lady Beshaba.” The man stands up, takes a few steps towards her and says, “My lady, we welcome you. I sorely missed your company. We have detected a great sense of energy towards the north. It is bring protected by the Fey. I will send my children there now.”
He snaps his finger as she says, “Ah, an unwelcome guest” as she returns to her typical dream.
Brylwynn then heats, “How dare you! I will not keep tolerating this resistance. First you activate the shard and now you try to turn the tables on us! I will never let a mere mortal like you take control of this power, this crown!” She then feels a pain in her head as this happens.
In the casino, the coin flips faster and faster before her. She fails her charisma saving throw, as this goddess is enraged that Brylwynn was able to see through her vision. Beshaba then beings to assault her mind, as Brylwynn feels a tug on her mind. She then shifts her alignment a bit, but after a few more fails, will result in a complete shift.
We wake up in the morning and regroup with Queen Titania. RC asks for an attuned item to the Feywild and gives us a crystalized butterfly so that we can planar shift back here in the future. Glittr asks what she needs him to do and she replies, “save the material realm.”
We head over to Larael’s keep. We walk in and see her deep in a meeting with Krowen. She greets us excitedly. Larael inquires about how things went in the Feywild and we tell her a recap of our success there.
She tells us that she has been doing research in her library. She found an old note from her husband tucked away. Her memories of her crown days are blurry at best.
The letter states that Larael and her husband stumbled upon a shadow shard themselves. They located it down to the island of Ruathym. He doesn’t know what lies down there near the ocean. Now that she is reading the letter, she knows her husband is dead and the crown is off her head.
Krowen is there, agreeing with Larael, and agrees to help us in anyway that he can. As we talk, the doors slam open behind us. Standing behind us is the brother and sister duo. They walk in and says “father spoke true, Lady Silverhand did escape Haephastus’ clutches. But don’t let us be too disruptive. We come in peace one again. Leverage will do that. We came to talk. We came to warn you, a friendly warning. We know you wormed your way into our father’s court, so consider this a warning. If you follow us to the spine of the world, Fey will die.”
Pearl claps back at them, “You must be desperate to hide behind my sister.”
Larael says she through it was a hoax, but Zariel does seem to have a stake in the game. She sent her last Eryine to
Beshaba awaits us at the spine of the world, and Zariel awaits us at the Island of Ruathym.
We decide to head towards the Spine of the World first, and then out towards Ruathym.
