Laeral Is up to No Good
S02E24
As we awaken in the show, we are joined by three new creatures who surround us. We battle the creatures with Fae, but without Brylwynn as she is gone. Fae banged the creatures to another plane. Fae shares that she is heading south towards Luskan and Neverwinter and we warn her not to go to Luskan as she may be mistaken for Pearl. The Prince of Frost is sending her on this mission. Pearl reminds Fae that she may have killed their mother but Fae denies it. Fae is also sick of Ari’s bullying and vows to murder her if it happens again.
We rest and continue our journey east. We agreed to head to the Miner’s Inn to see Sorelisa and Naeremos and ask about the location of the Weevil. It is near the Spine of the World. Mirabar is a city where weapons are forged and created and the Mines of Mirabar are located there.
We approach Mirabar when we notice that the city is walled with sloping walls, as Ari and Pearl notice that people are pouring water down the slopes to make the sloped walls slippery. Brylwynn notices that one of the two dwarven guards is staring at her specifically. As we look around, we notice that several people in the town are staring at us because we aren’t all humans or elves. In the bar, we learn that people have been feeling on edge in the city about a week ago from Kevin the Bartender at The Crown Jewel Inn we stayed at. A woman on the street says we can visit The Rusty Axe, a forge.
As we approach the bar, a dwarf in plate armor approaches Brylwynn. He hands her a letter and walks away. The letter has a wax seal on it, the Sigil of Waterdeep.. The letter is from Laeral Silverhand of Waterdeep and reads:
Brylwynn,
If you’re reading this, it appears my messenger has found you alive & well, although at which city is unknown to me. When you are done with whatever little thing you’re doing, seek me out in Waterdeep. You did me a great service by wiping out Elador, and I'm certainly interested in why the Lady of Daggerford ran off in the middle of the night.
-Laeral Silverhand, Open Lord of Waterdeep
Caulkin reveals that Laeral is the woman who killed his father. He reveals that he wants to take her out. He failed to kill her once and that’s how he got the scar on his face. Caulkin also reveals that he used to be a Shadow Thief, and he comes from high ranking Shadow Thieves. They’ve always wanted to get revenge on Laeral for taking out the Shadow Thieves. He is a Harper. We also find out that Caulkin’s mother was a priest and the order that she served killed her. This is why he hates religion.
As he falls asleep, Caulkin feels someone try to enter and assault his mind, but he is able to thwart it. Brylwynn recalls that when she killed Elador, he said that Brylwynn was supposed to be a gift for Laeral.
