SpoOoOoky Shadow Bridge
S03E06
We arrive in Everlund atop the Moon Gleam Tower. We find a safe place amongst the Harpers. RC, Brylwynn, and Caulkin decide to go check-in with Everlund. Pearl and Glittr go shopping and visit the shrines for Lliira and The Raven Queen. RC purchases a Gilded Flower for spellcasting. We purchase some other pieces of parchment, wax seals, and potions of healing.
Glittr leaves a note for Lliira at her shrine that says, “I know not what you did to rid the world of Hephaestus’ evil in the past, but I plan on finishing it.” He once again feels a sense of the weakened power of Lliira, a la the visions and warnings that Vael have given him in visions in the past, as early as Kayalithica’s cave. At the Raven Queen’s Shrine, Pearl recites a prayer for the Raven Queen as a light whisper, which Glittr is able to overhear. As she finished the prayer, the cat’s claw began to glow purple and rattle. She picks up the visions and energies of her saying, “Pearl you are a mortal and you lack the overarching view. You are close but do not yet appreciate what you have. Do you know what the gifts I give you represent, what life represents? You are all of this what I have given you, what the Prince of Frost has given you as a gift. We are two sides of the same coin, just as your sister is the other side of your coin. I am in need of champions for when dark times are approaching. Even now your friends are discovering this to be true. Remember where you came from and remember who you are.” As the message ends, the bones stop rattling.
Pearl remembers that the Raven Queen has said before that the Prince Frost is not inherently evil.
As the two of them walk around the city, Glittr notices that the city is far more packed than usual. Specifically, a lot more elves than normal. They look more like High Elves versus Wood Elves, and the High Elves were the main population of Silverymoon.
Meanwhile in the Moon Gleam Tower, RC, Brylwynn, and Caulkin talk to Krowen. They ask him what he knows about Hephaestus. He asks if we have seen the state of the city to which we reply we have not. Krowen discussed the influx of people from Silverymoon. He states that the High Harper has drained the city of its magic and their location is currently unknown. In the past 2-3 days people have been fleeing from the city. Krowen has not been back to visit the city yet to see whatever threat is there. Some creatures have begun emerging from the city.
He states that a few Harpers have died, but it seems that Shadow like creatures have done the killing but they keep occuring in hordes. He offers a vague, but certain, award for helping the city. The city is not destroyed, but overrun.
Caulkin asks if Krowen has heard from Larael. Krowen stated there are rumors she is no longer living. Caulk attempts to deceive him, but it is not the best and Krowen suspects he already knew she was dead when Caulkin asked him that leading question. Brylwynn also mentions something and Krowen gets the strong feeling that we know about what happened to Larael.
Caulkin asks if Larael’s nephew is still in power in Silverymoon. He is, but he is safe in Everlund, tending to the injured.
RC asks one last question to see if Krowen knows about the Shadow Shard. They provide him with more information about Hephaestus, a suspected lich. Krowen states that he can look into the history of Lliira and Hephaestus. “If a lich is getting its way here, that is the last thing any of us want or need,” Krowen says, rubbing his temples.
Krowen asks about what we know of The High Harper. RC reveals that Räyûvel is in the Nine Hells, trying to retrieve the soul of his beloved. Krowen states he tends to forget his duties when the Dragon’s Tale gets involved as they are a blind spot for him.
We meet at the coffee shop, The Dragon’s Roast, where Pearl gives Brylwynn the Dragon Armour Breastplate. We talk about a plan on what to do once we get to Silverymoon. As we approach the city, it seems as if the color is drained and the gates are open.
We decide to rest in the tiny hut all night and wait for daylight before battling the monsters. During her rest, Brylwynn makes note that the city seems silent as nothing comes in or out.
We come up with a plan to have Caulkin and RC fly above with their ranged weapons, trying to find the source of the monsters. Brylwynn and Pearl will be invisible at the sides of Glittr, who can also fly but is walking.
The bridge we once saw is no longer a beautiful silvery moon bridge, where Glittr once got hit with a fish, and then became smaller bridges people were using to cross the river. As we approach, we see a new, darker shadow bridge in its place. As we approach, Glittr appears as a lone paladin walking into the city. We see a single monster gnawing on an arm bone in a small patch of grass.
The monster speaks out in a language (undercommon) and says something we can’t understand. From the buildings, more creatures rush out.
RC and Brylwynn notice a creature walking across the bridge to the north. She says, “Well, well, if it isn’t Bahamut’s little caretakers. My sister said I might come across your path. I can’t wait to fill you with arrows and feast upon your flesh.” Brylwynn sees another one of those creatures materialize from behind her.
