Bottoms Up, and Brylwynn Laughs

Caulkin accepts Hingir’s offer for training. He will be expected to operate under Kelemvor’s code of code in honor of his name. He will have to enact his justice in this world. 

Caulkin feels a sense of responsibility to the group. he speaks to his mom and says “I want to find you and I don’t want to have to choose between you and the group. If you’re number 1, we are connected and you can hear me saying I want to find you. Find me, Mom, please find me” and takes off his amulet, opens his eyes and sees his friends.

As he does this, some things happen. There is always a breeze as it’s a coastal city but suddenly the air around us stills and Caulkin’s tattoo glows through his shirt. He looks down and sees the #5. When it was placed on him it seared but this is more of a warm glow - he feels good, and as the light fades he feels a charge surge through him and senses in the back of his mind “Good. Go forth and bring justice.” not a voice but just a sense of the words.

• The Dagger of Kelemvor

  1. He now has resistance to radiant damage. His dagger begins to glow and becomes singed with the seal of Kelemvor and becomes a magical item, giving him points in Kelemvor’s ranks. 

  2. For a bonus action, he can active the dagger for an actionless Divine Favor Spell

  3. This dagger levels up and gets stronger the more he kills enemies with it

We walk into the Bar at around 11:00 pm. We see a well in the center of the bar. Glittr and Brylwynn take off in the bar trying to find Captain Thunderhale. He is talking to the people around him, telling a story. They get shots and devise a plan to talk to Captain Thunderhale. He is very pompous and says it costs a lot to pay for him to charter his ship. He challenges Brylwynn to a drinking contest and if she outdrinks him, he’ll give us the name of his benefactors.

• After 6 rounds of drinking, he gives in and caves. He admits that Larael is his benefactor and that we need to speak with her.

We get back to the Inn and settle down for the night. While she is sleeping, Brylwyn has a dream of a memory she once had. She dreams about the time we were reunited after our downtime and the feeling of warmth and joy when we all met. The same warth happened when we met RC and our group felt complete again. In her dream she is by a stream and when she turns to the right, she sees the Rakasha inches away from her face. It just sits there and stares at her for what feels like hours. Then, its flesh congeals and melts off her body, leaving a skeleton. When she awakens she gets a successful long rest, but feels gross, as if there is something within her or watching her. 

As RC sleeps, he has a dream sequence as well. In the dream, he feels a connection to a monster. 

We devise a plan for when we meet up with Larael. We make our way to her keep and make our way to her office. Her guard leads up to her central room. She has an ornate office lined with bookshelves. She had a beautiful wooden desk and chair also covered in books. She sends her young guard out who brings with him the book he was writing in, behind him leaves her 2 other guards. There are 5 guards outside of her office door we know at this time. 

We begin our conversation with Larael. She has all of us introduce ourselves in the group. When Caulkin introduces himself, he also mentions his name of Xanross, which we see perks her up. RC introduces himself and Larael knows him by Rusty Cyclops and his past adventuring history. She references a group he used to adventure with and that his old group is on a mission for her right now. 

• Brylynn and Lareal talk about Elador, who used to be a student of hers. His and her desires for magi did not align which led to their falling out. 

• Brylwynn goes on to talk with her about giants and the adventure we have been on. She shows Larael the spyglass we received from Captain Thunderhale as a means of proof we talked to him. 

We ask about the Kraken Society to see if she has any information on them. Larael shares she thought they were mostly defunct but they hope to absorb some of the power the krakens have.

As she says goodbye to us, Larael says goodbye to us. She says, “It was a pleasure meeting you all for a second time” and Caulkin picks up on the inflection in her voice as she says second, as if he knows she was lying.
