The Power of Three
S03E27
We resume battling the Serpentine monster with the few undead shadow creatures around her. Pearl’s body remains on the ground as Caulkin and Glittr’s hands remind on the two orgs, keeping the monster from regenerating. Meanwhile, Brylwynn, RC, Baptiste, and Bahamut continue to fight the creature, taking down its HP slowly. They continue to shoot arrows at the creature, with RC taking her down with a thunderous arrow shot.
After the battle, Glittr is able to use Revivify on Pearl, bringing her back to life.
We scurry away into one of the corner rooms and take a short rest. We walk forward into the next room. As we do, we are met with another hologram message of Jyaernos, aka the Prince of FFrostorst, and Nera, aka The Raven Queen, as the crown continue to stream blood down from his head. She encourages him to resist, as his eyes turn black and turn into black voids. He tries to rip the crown form his head one last time, as he screams, and collapses. She pulls his body and she drags him along the north staircase.
Brylwynn realizes that the holograms we are watching are what will happen to her if we don’t get the crown off of her head.
The Raven Queen hates dust, as the mausoleum is spotless and well dusted.
Baptiste and Glittr take charge as lead the group up one last staircase. We look into the room ahead, and we see the body of Jyaernos at the foot of an alter. His body is covered in grotesque, barbed vines, holding his body to the ground. We see one more set of
Nanuna is chanting, glowing brighter and brighter. She screams a very powerful spell, it sounds like an archaic form of celestial.
We then hear a female voice ring out from the memory, “Foolish mortal girl! The heir to the feywild is mine to control!” She screams back, “No, he is not!! He will never be yours.”
Just then, Jyaernos’ body begins levitating, as two steams of body stream out of him, one from the crown and one from his mouth.
“Ninuna(sp?), take this mantle, but you will cease to be. You will be memory incarnate of past, present, and future.” She dons a cloak presented to her and as she puts it on, a purple light causes her to disappear, leaving behind only the cloak. The cloak absorbed the bolt of energy that streamed from his crown as his body disappeared.
The cloak turns to all of us as the memory disappears.
We are left alone in the room as the hologram memory ceases. A pair of dark, horrible eyes lay before us. We hear a voice stating, “Wow, you have all witnessed a grave loss I have experienced. This body is mine to control, and control it I shall.” As that happens, thorns cover Jyaernos’ body, leaving behind a purple shadow. The purple mist begins to
We hear Beshaba speaking to us, “I see all of you! You have tried to stop me, but you won’t. I have Graz'zet on my side and I have the shards. You will not take this stone! Arise my minion, hold them until my champions arrive.” As this happens, a creature appearing like a suit of magical death armor appears before us.
We struggled against the creature as it hits us with Destructive Waves and a toxic purple mist. During the battle Brylwynn falls, but is managed to be revived with Pearl’s Tome book.
We investigate the body. We suspect the vines around Jyaernos were enacted before the battle began.
We decide to activate the shadow shard. Pearl uses a 5th-level spell (protection from good and evil), Brylwynn uses a 5th-level (mass cure wounds), and RC uses a 2nd-level spell slot (lesser restoration). We decide to have Pearl go last and set the intention, as The Raven Queen instructed us to do so.
Pearl focuses her intention on good energy. She channeled this against Beshaba to protect someone who was her victim. As the three of them cast their spells, a golden light emanates from the runes around the Shadow Shard. As this happens, the vines around Jyaernos melt away, and our group is enveloped by a positive surge of life.
We all heard a clapping sound coming from behind us. We turn around and look to see 2 figures. “Well, well. Look what we have here.” Our stomachs drop as we are met by the two forms of Brother and Sister.
“Our lord father won’t appreciate this!”
Baptiste recognizes their voices from the past, as he follows their voices to the Feywild. They slaughtered his students. He knows who they are here at the behest of. “Well, my un-sister. It seems like that dumb dragonborn girl was telling the truth. She wasn’t lying about not being Pearl. She’ll be a wonderful gift for our lord father. What a shame [...] You beat us this round but you won’t beat us to the next Shadow Shard.”
After a brief discussion, we decided that we were in no position to fight them as our last fight with them was devastating.
Baptiste doesn’t relay any of this information to them upfront. He then opens up a little bit more, admitting the two had taken something from him in the past.

Arrival of Brother and Sister:
As the shard is activated, the two siblings (followers of Graz’zet) appear, taunting the party for their interference. They reveal their connection to Baptiste’s past, having slaughtered his students, and mock the party’s inability to stop their pursuit of the next Shadow Shard. The party decides not to engage, as they are too weakened from the previous battles.
